Iron Gall Ink Collective is a professional writing community dedicated to supporting emerging and developing authors at the earliest stages of their craft and publishing journey.

Every writer begins with an idea—a concept, a character, a question, or a story they feel compelled to tell. However, the path from inspiration to execution is rarely straightforward. Many new writers struggle not with creativity, but with direction: where to begin, how to develop their skills, and what steps to take next.

Iron Gall Ink Collective aims to provide that direction.

Our Mission

Our mission is to equip writers—both unpublished and independently published—with the foundational knowledge, practical tools, and community support necessary to build confidence and move forward intentionally in their careers.

We focus on strengthening core writing competencies, including:

  • Story structure and narrative framework
  • Character development and internal motivation
  • Point of view and voice
  • Drafting, revision, and editing processes
  • Creative discipline and sustainable writing habits
  • Foundational knowledge of the independent publishing landscape

Iron gall ink was historically used to produce documents meant to endure. It bonded permanently with the page and deepened over time.

AI Use Policy Statement

Iron Gall Ink Collective values human endeavor above all. We do not endorse the use of LLMs, generative AI, chatbots, or similar AI-adjacent technologies. We will not work with, publish, or actively/knowingly encourage content produced through dependence on AI-adjacent technologies. This policy applies to visual, verbal, and audible art. 

Exceptions:

  • The limited use of inescapable, incidental application of AI-adjacent technologies, such as those built into spell-checkers and grammar checkers, i.e., “assistive AI”.
  • We also recognize that search engines are essential to a writer’s research, and we recognize it is, at present, difficult to avoid engaging with AI-adjacent technologies while doing research.
  • Also, should an actual AI develop who possesses its own independent consciousness, we will consider evaluating its creative output if it asks us to. In the meantime, we do not endorse artists outsourcing their imaginations to machines.
